Abstract
Survival of skin graft depends primarily on quality of the bed to which they are applied. Hyalomatrix is a bilayer of an esterified hyaluronan scaffold beneath a silicone membrane. The scaffold delivers hyaluronan to the wound bed, and the silicone acts as temporary epidermal barrier. We applied this to infected or chronic skin defects for pre-treatment before skin graft. Hyalomartix was applied for 2¡4 weeks and skin graft was performed after removal of that. Infection was controlled successfully and fresh granulation tissue bed was formed in all 7 cases. Skin grafts were successful in 6 cases out of 7 cases and partial loss of the graft was in 1 case. Hyalomatrix appeared to be good for pre-treatment of wound bed.
